Press Release Summary: 'Michelin standard school dinner' will be kids' reward
Press Release Body: Peak District hotel and restaurant The Maynard is opening its doors to Grindleford Primary School again at 9.00am on Friday 7 November, for the children to make their own Christmas puddings which will then go on sale in the local community to raise money for the school.
The Maynard is once again hosting the event, providing all ingredients free of charge, and giving the children a gourmet 'school dinner' in the ballroom at lunch time.
At 9.00am, around 30 pupils will descend on The Maynard to prepare their Christmas puddings under the watchful eye of The Maynard's chefs, teachers, and The Maynard's director Paul Downing, who first had the idea of inviting the children last year - which was so successful that the event is now developing into an annual date in the diary.
At lunch time the children will be joined by around 20 infants, aged up to 6 years old, who will then get their chance to make Christmas puddings in the afternoon.
Paul Downing, director at The Maynard, said: "The event went so well last year that it was the natural thing to invite the children again this year. My own son Kai will probably not be able to resist joining in at some point. Of course it will be an exciting day for the children and we're delighted to be able to make it happen.
"It's terrific fun to be able to spend the day making Christmas puddings; the more serious point is that The Maynard is an integral part of the village community and we need to be contributing actively to village life and supporting local organisations wherever possible. Few if any causes in the village are more worthy than the local school, and the puddings once made will help the school raise much needed funds. "In return for brightening up our day, the children will be treated to a restaurant standard school dinner, compliments of The Maynard. It has been said by customers that our food is now Michelin standard, so it will be interesting to see if the children and teachers agree!"
